Volunteers
The DBS Disclosure & Barring Service currently define a volunteer as:
“a person who is engaged in any activity which involves spending time, unpaid (except for travelling and other approved out-of-pocket expenses), doing something which aims to benefit someone (individuals or groups) other than or in addition to close relatives”
You Cannot Be:
- Working towards the completion a course
- On a placement in association with an educational provider
- Working towards a permanent or temporary paid position
- Receiving any monetary or scholarly gain
If you satisfy the above criteria, the DBS Disclosure & Barring Service will issue a DBS certificate free of charge bypassing the usual £44 government fee. As a result, the only cost incurred by the requesting organisation or the applicant themselves is our administration fee of £15.00 (VAT Incl.).
